This week, Roslin Petion of 5th & Oxford (p.k.a. Fleur & Tête a Pied) sent me a review copy of her most recent skin release, Brooke.  I was absolutely thrilled at the opportunity and spent the better part of last night trying them out and photographing them.  (Above: Shape by Paper Dolls, Hair by YunA’sHAIR, Eyes by Miriel, Lingerie by Lingerie by Hollee.)

“Brooke” provided me with a challenge.  As my personal shape does not flatter these skins as stunningly as some of the others who have reviewed them, I looked for one that would bring out more of what they have to offer.  The results are below the cut!

“Brooke”, the third skin release under the 5th & Oxford name, is a very expressive skin, accomodating a wide variety of fashions and moods.  The makeups range from subtle and sensible, to lush, mysterious and evocative.  The shape that I used for these is “Velma”, the newest from Mayonnaise Kayo.  Having designed uniquely sexy shapes for her own use for nearly two years, Mayo only recently began selling her creations under the name “Paper Dolls”.  I honestly think that she will be a name to watch in 2010.

“Nightfall” (above) is one of my favourites.  It is both aggressive and subtle.  I love dark eyeliner, but it can be (and so often is) so easily overdone.  Nightfall deftly rides that fine line.  Because it does, it is as suitable for an elegant silk-and-pearls evening as it is for a denim-and-Telecaster open-mic night at the coffee house.  (Shape by Paper Dolls, Hair by Love Soul, Eyes by Miriel, Jeans by .hc&co.  The T-shirt is my own, inspired by Joe Strummer.)

A beautiful look for the girl-on-the-go, Brooke’s “Natural” was an easy win for me.  Sensible-but-sassy, I felt immediately at home-away-from-home as I strolled around in it through the streets of Berlin in search of that elusive Dean Reed LP for my collection.  (Shape by Paper Dolls, Eyes by Miriel, Dress by Little Town, Necklace by Sable Rose.)

Of the five, however, “Rebel, Rebel” is the standout for me.  Eyeliner that evokes both the ancient and the futuristic, bold lipstick and nuanced eyeshadow that seduce  you and refuse to let go.  (Shape by Paper Dolls, Eyes by Miriel, Hair by Omega Point, CySuit by Tomby’s.)

The eyebrows are easily modified from the Appearance menu, allowing easy customization to more precisely match your hair and mood. The skins are L$600 each.

I hope that the photographs succeed where my words may have failed. These are beautiful.
